On 26th September 2018 demonstration and installation of Lumex system for Hg(II) and Hg(0) measurements in the air and flue gases was organised at VTT Mikes in Helsinki, Finland. Several project partners were present: VTT Mikes, Lumex, PS Analytical, VSL, UBA and JSI.
The system is composed of two Lumex detectors where analytical path for Hg(0) vapours goes directly thru analytical cell and measure only Hg(0). Analytical path for second detector goes thru Lumex PYRO unit that heats gases and measure total Hg. The difference between measured total Hg and Hg(0) is defined as Hg(II). System was tested by HgCl solution vapours that were exactly dosed by HovaCal calibrator and vaporiser. Obtained results were very good for beginning of testing. At time the Lumex system is installed at VTT Mikes and will be transferred after few months of testing to VSL and after it to JSI for additional testing and measurements within MercOx project.
